For sale is my Minelab Explorer XS, I bought this new when they first came out however many years ago that was. I didn’t understand the detector from day one as I was already a staunch Whites user and never got to grips with this machine. If I used it more than ten times I’d be surprised. I purchased a 14 inch Coiltek head for it as the idea was to use it as a deep seeking come hoard hunting detector as I was on to a bit of Bronze Age stuff at the time. I found a whole axe at about eighteen inches and in a separate find a cluster of broken up bits at a similar depth. I also found a cut halfpenny with the same coil. I had no idea how to set the detector up and got another user to program it and they were the only settings I ever used. It has now been unused for many years moved from one cupboard to another so I’ve decided to see if anyone else wants to make use of it. It comes with all items photographed. The machine and it’s stock coil are in great condition and power up and operate as you would expect using the AA battery holder. The rechargeable pack is seemingly defunct, after long sessions of charging I can only get 5.6 volts out of it, nowhere near the stated 9.6 and not enough to power up the machine. The Coiltek search head has be stored in the garage for several years and although it seemed to work ok the outer insulation of the lead has become semi brittle and cracked up in numerous places as can be seen in the photos. I’ve thrown it into the auction anyway as some strategic black electrical tape would probably make this useable. The car charger has a similar issue(see photo)and is untested. The original charger is included although no guarantee that it is operating correctly(see above). The manual is included as is the “Mastering the Minelab” book. Also the black plastic coil stand thingy is included. I shall post this in non original packaging by Parcel Force at a cost of £20 or collection is welcome from the Rayleigh area. Please ask if you have any questions but I can promise you I’ll be of little help if you need to know anything about functions of the detector. 99p start and it goes for whatever it makes.
